We are thrilled to announce our upcoming study trip to Lebanon in April-May 2024! This trip promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone involved. We will depart from Amsterdam, but if you live in another country than Holland and would like to join, just email us and we'll try to see how we can include you. Please read on for all the details:

What's Included

Plane tickets with Transavia (straight flight of 4.5 hours)
Transfer from and to the Airport in Beirut
Classes from Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Stay in a luxury AirBnB in a popular area of Beirut 
Breakfast on 6 days

Lunch on 7 days

Dinner on 4 days
Transportation for the activities 

Entrance tickets and guided tours for activities

Program

April 24th
Depart from Amsterdam to Beirut 
Lebanese dinner in Mar Mikhael street (included)

April 25th
Gather for a traditional breakfast.

Free time: explore the area, get some groceries, visit downtown Beirut and Souk el Tayeb, Mosque Al-Amine and Saint George Cathedral.

April 26th
Visit to Baalbek:
Baalbek, located in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, is famous for its magnificent ancient Roman ruins, including the Temple of Jupiter, the Temple of Bacchus, and the Temple of Venus. We will explore the well-preserved temples, admire the intricate carvings and designs, and learn about the rich history of the area.

 

Included: lunch and dinner. Entrance ticket and guided tour.

April 27th
Visit to Beit Ed-Din and the Mir Amin Castle
The Beit Ed-Din Palace, dating back to the 19th century, is renowned for its breathtaking Lebanese architecture and magnificent gardens. After that, we will visit the Mir Amin Castle, which was once the residence of the last Emir of Lebanon and now operates as a luxurious hotel with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. 

 

Included: lunch, entrance tickets.

Night: Visit to La Scene  (optional)
Experience the vibrant nightlife of Beirut with a visit to La Scene. Dance the night away to the beats of Lebanese artists and singers, while enjoying delicious cocktails and an electrifying atmosphere.

Drinks and finger food (not included). 

April 28th
The Cedars of God/ Lebanon Mountain Trail 
Embark on a scenic hike through the Cedar forests of the Qadisha Valley. Experience the serenity and tranquility of this natural wonder, which has been a symbol of Lebanon for centuries. 

 

Included: lunch, entrance tickets, hike. 

April 29th
Morning: 9:30 hrs breakfast together. Class from 10:00-13:00 hrs
Afternoon: Visit Byblos and lunch at Restaurant Melena
Step back in time and explore the charming coastal town of Byblos, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Wander through the ancient streets and watch the well-preserved Roman ruins. For lunch we will meet at restaurant Melena, which is known for its authentic Lebanese cuisine, warm hospitality, and beautiful sea views.

April 30th
Morning: 9:30 hrs breakfast together. Class from 10:00-13:00 hrs
Afternoon: Boat tour to Raouche and dinner/lunch at Restaurant Tawlet:
Experience the stunning beauty of the Mediterranean Sea on a boat tour to Raouche. Take in the views of the iconic Pigeon Rocks, a natural landmark of Beirut. Afterwards, enjoy a delightful meal at Restaurant Tawlet, which offers a farm-to-table dining experience with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

 

Included: breakfast, lunch, boat ride, taxi back and forth.

May 1st
Morning: 9:30 hrs breakfast together. Class from 10:00-13:00 hrs
Afternoon: Visit Jeita Grotto and dinner at Sultan Brahim:
Today we are visiting the Grotto of Jeita. Explore the stunning natural wonders of the underground caves and their mystical limestone formations. Then, indulge in a delicious dinner at the renowned Sultan Brahim restaurant, which presents panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. 

 

Included: breakfast, lunch, dinner, entrance and guided tour.


May 2nd
Morning: 9:30 hrs breakfast together. Class from 10:00-13:00 hrs - Lunch: to be determined
Rest of the day: Free time

May 3rd
Morning: 9:30 hrs breakfast together. Class from 10:00-13:00 hrs
Afternoon: Visit Harissa and dinner/lunch at Restaurant Ammar:
Discover the historic town of Harissa, perched high on a hilltop overlooking the stunning coastline. Take in the mesmerizing views from the iconic Our Lady of Lebanon statue, a symbol of peace and unity. Afterwards, enjoy a meal at Restaurant Amar, known for its authentic Lebanese cuisine.

 

Included: breakfast, lunch, dinner, hike and entrance ticket..


May 4th
Visit Batroun 
Enjoy some free time to soak up the sun and swim in the turquoise waters of the nearby beaches in Batroun. Option for lunch and dinner (not included). 

 

Included: guided tour

May 5th
Free day.

Return to Holland late evening flight.

What's the Budget?
The cost for the trip is 2080,- euros per person for students who choose a shared room with 1 person, which covers everything mentioned above.

For students who wish to have a private room all for yourself, the cost is 2450,- euros.

Partners are welcome to join for the special price of 1900,- euros. 

What Are the Costs at Your Own Expense?
Some meals, the ones not included in the program above.

Groceries for your apartment.

Any personal expenses outside of the program.

 

Estimated extra costs at the student's own expense are around 400,- euro's. 

 

Travel insurance
It is mandatory for all travellers to have valid travel insurance in order to join the trip to Lebanon.

The travel insurance policy should cover medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, and repatriation of remains. Failure to provide proof of valid travel insurance may result in being denied participation in the trip.

When and Where?
The trip will take place around the dates of April 24th to May 5th, 2024.

 

Please note that we need a minimum of 10 people to join on this trip in order for it to take place! 

We kindly ask you to answer before July 15th 2023 if you want to join for this trip. We will book the plane tickets soon, and please keep in mind that if for any reason you need to cancel the trip, we can't refund the money for the plane tickets. You will be responsible for changing the dates or the destination of the tickets, but you will be subject to Transavia's conditions.

Upon registration, you will receive an invoice for 1000,- euro's.

This will allow us to book the flights and the Airbnb.

 

January 2024 you will pay the remaining price of 1080,- euro's (shared room with 1 person)

or 1450,- euro's (private room).

 

We reserve the right to make changes to the program.
